Our Unattached Branches:

NY flag

Cornelius FULKERSON is the apparent progenitor of this branch, which was originally researched by the Seelye family. Subsequent research apparently ties this Cornelius to an unattached New York-Pennsylvania branch. Census data lists a younger Cornelius and likely this older Cornelius living in the town of Westmoreland at the same time. Research also possibly links this branch to an unattached Michigan branch, whose Edward FULKERSON and associated BLODGETT family lived in Busti, NY, at the same time (1830) as the younger Cornelius.

This is the information originally submitted by a Seelye researcher:
Wife: Phebe FULKERSON....also known as: FAULKERSON or FAULKENSON, 20 Feb 1768-13 May 1803, d. in Westmoreland, Oneida Co., NY. (parents suspected to be Cornelius FULKERSON and Frinche Van DYKE)
Husband: Daniel SEELY....1 Jul 1763-29 May 1840, b. in Deerpark, Orange Co, NY, d. in Westmoreland, Oneida Co., NY (son of David SEELY and unknown). They were married 11 Jul 1789 in Westmoreland, Oneida Co., NY.

Note on this Submission (1998)

The Submitter is trying to find some genealogical record that extends the information above to the previous generation. He does have the following information, but no records that span the generations to prove the link.
"Cornelius FULKERSON b. 13-Aug-1738, m. 11-Dec-1764, Frinche Van DYKE, b. 17-Nov-1745, Harlingen Dutch Church Record, ref: AFN:JTQM-L8. From Laila Thompson, Cornelis, evidently moved from New Jersey to New York after 1765, since no other children are recorded. There was a Cornelis Fulkerson on the 1790 New York census in Albany County, Cambrige Township.

Parents of Cornelius Fulkerson (???)

Volkert VOLKERTZEN b. 1697, Long Island, NY, m. ca 1723/24, Femmetjie BUYS, b. ?-Apr-1698, Brooklyn, Kings, NY. Volkert died 1780, New Jersey, buried: Somerset Co, NJ. No will has been found

Femmetjie BUYS b. ?-Apr-1698, Brooklyn, Kings, NY. Femmetjie is Dutch for Phoebe"

Further Notes (2006)

It's reported that a WABER/FRITZ family tree on Ancestry.Com contains the following information about Cornelius FULKERSON, based in part on information provided by the same SEELYE researcher:
Cornelius FULKERSON....b. 13 Aug 1738 in Middletown, New Brunswick, NJ, (near Sandy Hook Bay on the eastern New Jersey shore) m. (1st) Frinche VAN DYKE (b. 17 Nov 1745, Harlingen Dutch Ch. Record) on 11 Dec 1764 in Harlingen, NJ (about 35 miles west of Middletown, in Somerset County where the Fulkerson families first emigrated from Brooklyn about 1700.) He reportedly m. (2nd) to a Cornelia. Cornelius' children:
NOTE: Triggered by some strong coincidences of mathematics and geography related to Cornelius Jr. and first wife Lucy, FULKERSON researchers are focusing on the possibility that Edward FULKERSON of the unattached Michigan branch is a descendant of this branch.
